The panel brought together healthcare industry leaders, representing a range of disciplines from surgical consultants, to dementia-care, academics and disease control researchers. The panellists included Prof Dimitrios A Andritsos, HEC Paris associate professor of Information Systems and Operations Management; Dr Charbel Abi Khalil, associate professor of Genetic Medicine/Medicine at WCM-Q;Ali Ustun, McKinsey’s Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Practice in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa;Amr Metwally, assistant executive director of Itqan Clinical Simulation and Innovation Centre; Prof Dr Peter Horn, executive director for Clinical and Service Development Office of the Chief Medical Officer at Hamad Medical Corporation; andProf Mahmood Adil, advisor tothe Minister of Public Health in Qatar.
“The healthcare sector is being disrupted across the entire delivery landscape and demands new strategies to address increasing patient expectations, the emergence of personalized healthcare and stricter regulatory standards,” explained Dr Pablo Martin de Holan, Dean, HEC Paris in Qatar.Last year, HEC Paris in Qatar and WCM-Q initiated a collaborative effort by launching an Executive Certificate in Healthcare Management and Policy. Building upon this success, the second edition of the programme is scheduled to commence in November of this year. The programme consists of two one-week modules: one in New York, led by Weill Cornell, and another in Doha, led by HEC Paris.
“We are proud to have partnered with HEC Paris in Qatar to bring together experts from different sectors to share their knowledge and perspectives and we look forward to delivering further panel discussions to ensure Qatar’s healthcare sector remains an outstanding case study of performance and societal excellence,” commented Dr Javaid Sheikh, dean of WCM-Q, one of the most respected and highly rated medical research centres in the Gulf region.
The panel discussion concluded with a lively question and answer session that demonstrated the commitment of Qatar’s healthcare professionals to leading and managing the transformation taking place in the sector.
