PBA holds two games in separate venues: What to watch out for

THE PBA does a rare doubleheader when it will stage two games on separate venues – one in Caloocan City and one in Candon, Ilocos Sur – on Saturday.

Here’s what you need to know about the unique doubleheader.

Rain or Shine (3-4) vs. Terrafirma (4-4)

When: Saturday, April 13, 3 p.m.

BATTLE FOR POSITIONING

Rain or Shine and Terrafirma will be eager for a win while locked in a tight race in the middle of the standings. After notching their third straight victory with a 110-103 win over Blackwater last week, the Elasto Painters are in a three-way logjam for eighth place on a 3-4 win-loss records. The Dyip, meanwhile, are in fifth with a 4-4 slate and are coming off a close 113-110 loss to Barangay Ginebra last Wednesday.

GO VS. BEAU

An interesting individual match-up could be between Isaac Go of Terrafirma and Beau Belga of Rain or Shine. Go is coming off a 21-point outbust in the game against San Miguel. Belga is enjoying his best conference in years, being second in the team in scoring with 16.1 per contest.

BY THE NUMBERS

Rain or Shine leads the league in scoring with an average of 106.9 per game. In their wins, the Elasto Painters limited their opponents to 92.7 per outing.

The Elasto Painters also leads in fastbreak points with 23.1, but their running offense could be tested. In their wins, Terrafirma limited its opponents to about 12 fastbreak points.

TNT vs. NLEX

When: Saturday, April 13, 6:15 p.m.

MOVE UP THE STANDINGS

NLEX and TNT are out to strengthen their respective bids for one of the two twice-to-beat incentives in the quarterfinals. The Road Warriors sit at second place with a 5-1 win-loss record, while the Tropang Giga are at sixth with a 3-3 mark.

BOLICK VS. OFTANA

The game will see two of the most prolific scorers in the conference. Robert Bolick leads the league in scoring with 29.5 points, while Calvin Oftana is at 10th with 19.3. The players are also at No. 1 and No. 7 in the Best Player of the Conference race.

BY THE NUMBERS

Even with Bolick’s numbers offensively, NLEX has showed it can play defense. It is ranked No. 4 in points against with 93.2.

TNT is in a share of third place with Terrafirma in three-points made with 10, a weapon that it can use against NLEX’s defense.
