Longtime MLB outfielder and former New York Mets World Series champion Lenny Dykstra has suffered a stroke.

On Wednesday evening, Patrick Dolan, the owner of Dolan’s Bar, a Ridley Park, Pennsylvania establishment, shared on X/Twitter that his “good friend” Dykstra suffered a mini-stroke.

“His family is around him at the moment and hopefully everything goes well,” Dolan said. “He is in good spirits, he’s doing decently and we just wanted to let him know our thoughts and prayers are with him, as I’m sure the Phillies fans and all the New York fans are with Mr. Lenny Dykstra today.”

Dykstra, 61, broke into the majors with the Mets in 1985. He played an integral role on the franchise’s 1986 World Series-winning team, hitting .300 in the playoffs with three home runs, including a walk-off two-run shot in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series.

Dykstra remained with the team until midway through the 1989 season, when he was traded to Philadelphia in an ill-fated deal that brought Juan Samuel to Queens.

The brash outfielder remained with the Phillies through 1996, making three All-Star teams and finishing as the runner-up for the National League MVP Award in 1993.

That season, he set career-highs in several major offensive categories and helped lead Philadelphia to a World Series appearance.

After his playing days ended, Dykstra has dealt with a number of personal, legal and health issues.
