'Has to start' - Aston Villa fans send Dean Smith emphatic message ahead of West Ham clash

Asia's Tech News Daily

The pressure on Dean Smith to change Aston Villa’s formation has intensified as the game with West Ham United looms.

Villa were swept aside at Arsenal last time out, 2-0 down at half time and in some ways fortunate to be so.

There was a second half improvement – but many fans want to see an end to the three-at-the-back set-up which initially served the team well but which some feel has now run its course.

Especially given the fact it’s a set-up that doesn’t lend itself well to the inclusion of wingers – and Villa have one supporters are desperate to see more.

@AvfcTalkTime: I’m strangely very confident for the game against West Ham Sunday. Bailey will be starting which will give the crowd a huge boost and I think the Atmosphere is going to be electric as it’s a bit of a later kickoff, get me to villa park!

@carlton5385: We played Friday, West Ham Sunday & Tonight, guarantee they will look fitter than us Sunday lol

@JBaker_24: Bailey has to start Sunday but my guess is he goes with a front 3 of Buendia, Ings & Watkins, if so then it tells you he doesn’t/can’t drop Watkins or Ings #AVFC

@kevinpaulread: Watkins-Ings-Bailey for me.

@aricketts108: I hope #WHUFC fans are ready to see Leon Bailey quite literally rip apart your entire squad as #AVFC win 4-0. Quite this tweet all you want.

@NickRedV: Ings to start for now. Could go Watkins on the left and Bailey on the right, but I’d go Buendia on the right and Bailey on the left. Then Watkins can come on if needed later in the game

@Hibernica_Leo79: Feels like a square peg in a round hole situation at the Villa right now. Has to be a 433 imo. For now I’d go with Luiz, Ramsey and McGinn as a midfield 3, Bailey and Buendia out wide and Ings up front. Sanson, Watkins and Troare all good options off the bench.

@marshallavfc: We average a goal every 22 minutes when Leon Bailey is on the pitch

@flipp_flopp1986: Watkins naturally drifts out to the left anyway, and looked reasonably effective in the second half against Arsenal. Buendia still doesn’t seem up to it, and by all accounts is better off the right, but Bailey has to play.

Bailey, a £30m summer signing, has only played in glimpses so far, but when he has done he’s impressed.

He followed his opening day assist at Watford up with a tremendous goal at the Holte End in the convincing win over Everton only to suffer another injury set-back.

He came off the bench at the Emirates last time out and once again impressed, playing a part in the build up to Jacob Ramsey’s consolation.
