Hansi Flick's feelings on Man Utd job become clear with Erik ten Hag left in no man's land
Former Germany head coach Hansi Flick has ‘expressed an interest’ in the Manchester United job following links to the club, it has been claimed.
An array of high-profile coaches are said to be of interest to the Old Trafford hierarchy given Erik ten Hag’s struggles at the helm this term, with the Dutchman currently overseeing the club’s worst campaign in decades.
Ten Hag has not been endorsed by Ineos or Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who will decide the Dutchman’s fate alongside his sporting operations team. And while speculation continues to rumble on, one candidate who has been linked with United has taken things further.
As first revealed by talkSPORT, Flick would be interested in taking on the role should Ten Hag be dismissed and has already expressed an interest in the job. Reports elsewhere, though, outline that he is also in the running for a return to Bayern Munich.
Flick, 59, previously won consecutive Bundesliga titles with Bayern before standing down at the end of the 2020/21 campaign. He then took charge of the German national team, however, his short reign was severely underwhelming.
Germany’s poor performance at the 2022 World Cup, where they failed to progress past the group stage, piled pressure on Flick, who was sacked just a few months later and has been out of work ever since.
While Flick and others lurk in the background, Ten Hag is still none the wiser as to whether or not he will remain in his post beyond the end of the season.

Erik ten Hag
Mirror Football revealed earlier this week that Ten Hag has been left sweating on his future following Monday night’s chastening 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace – a result that leaves United eighth in the Premier League table and at risk of missing out on Europe altogether next season.
Ratcliffe and his team are still weighing up all their options and there are no guarantees that Ten Hag will remain in charge for United’s date with Manchester City in the FA Cup final later this month.
And even if Ten Hag is given the green light to continue beyond this season, it seems likely that Ineos, who have already made significant changes behind the scenes, will keep him waiting.
