«Haben noch jede Menge Bier»: 61 Gäste seit drei Tagen im britischen Pub eingeschneit

Rund 60 Gäste kommen in Grossbritannien zurzeit nicht vom Fleck. Sie sind in einem Pub gefangen. Eingeschneit. Die Stimmung sei trotzdem sehr gut, berichtet einer der Gäste.

Wegen Schnee und Wind am Wochenende haben Besucher eines Pubs in Nordengland eine dritte Nacht in der Kneipe verbringen müssen. Die Wirtin des Tan Hill Inn, Nicola Townsend, sagte am Montagmorgen im BBC-Radio, es sei noch unklar, wann die Strasse zu dem im Nationalpark Yorkshire Dales gelegenen Pub wieder freigeräumt werden könne.

Die 61 Gäste waren nach dem Auftritt einer Oasis-Cover-Band am Freitagabend gestrandet. Der Herbststurm Arwen hatte auch in anderen Landesteilen Grossbritanniens für Verkehrschaos gesorgt und den Strom in vielen Haushalten ausfallen lassen.

Die Pub-Besucher vertrieben sich die Zeit mit Karaoke, Pub-Quiz und Brettspielen, wie Townsend berichtete. Viele von ihnen hatten ohnehin ein Zimmer für die Nacht auf Samstag in der Gaststätte mit Hotel gebucht. Andere schliefen teils auf Sofas oder auf Matratzen auf dem Boden.

Alkoholausschank wurde inzwischen beschränkt

«Wir haben eine Menge zu essen», sagte Townsend dem britischen Sender ITV. «Es klingt ein bisschen wie ein Klischee, aber die Leute kamen als Fremde und werden als Freunden wieder gehen.» Eine Frau soll sogar den Wunsch geäussert haben, gar nicht mehr zu gehen. Einer der Gäste scheint den Zustand zu geniessen. Entspannt sagte er gegenüber der «BBC», dass die Stimmung sehr gut sei. «Wir haben noch jede Menge Bier».

Eine Gruppe von mehreren Personen, die ein Baby bei sich hatten, sei aber inzwischen mithilfe von Spezialfahrzeugen abgereist. Den Alkoholausschank habe sie auf die Zeit nach drei Uhr nachmittags beschränkt, fuhr Townsend fort.

Für Werbespot schon einmal eingeschneit

Auf Bildern war zu sehen, wie sich der Schnee um Autos und das Pub-Gebäude auftürmte. Das eigentliche Problem sei der Wind gewesen, erläuterte Townsend. Der habe den Schnee an Hindernisse geweht, darunter auch an das Gebäude und die drum herum geparkten Fahrzeuge.

Der angeblich höchst gelegene Pub Englands war häufig Kulisse für Werbespots. Einer davon handelte von einer Gruppe von Besuchern, die eingeschneit werden und dann unfreiwillig eine schöne Zeit miteinander verbringen. Das scheint nun zumindest teilweise Realität geworden zu sein. (SDA)
