Gypsy Rose Blanchard is reportedly convinced one of Taylor Swift’s new songs off her album, The Tortured Poets Department, is about the former inmate.
And the hunch is not unfounded.
The 32-year-old media sensation was released from jail in December after serving a seven-year sentence for her part in the 2015 murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.
Sources have told TMZ that Gypsy believes that the track Fresh Out The Slammer is about her being freed.

The song relays the tale of a woman eager to reunite with her man after getting out of jail – a narrative that certainly has parallels to Gypsy’s own recent past

Meanwhile, the lyrics of the track, from Swift’s just released album, relay in first person the tale of someone who has just gotten out of jail, also known as ‘the slammer.’

While behind bars, Gypsy further cultivated a relationship with a man named Ken Urker, who struck up a dialogue with the then-prisoner in 2019 through a ‘letter of support’ he penned after watching HBO documentary Mommy Dead And Dearest.
The doc chronicled Gypsy’s upbringing as a victim of Munchausen by proxy through her mother, who feigned to the outside world that Gypsy was a sickly child – when she was in fact healthy and capable of functioning normally.
Gypsy and Ken then became pen pals, which gave way to a romantic relationship. The two were even briefly engaged before things fizzled out.
In 2020, Gypsy found a second romantic prospect in Ryan Anderson, who, like Ken, wrote to her while she was in prison.
The two went on to tie the knot in a private ceremony that took place in the confines prison in 2022.
In Swift’s song, the narrator alludes to longing for a man waiting for them beyond the prison walls.

As the lyrics go: ‘Now pretty baby, I’m running back home to you / Fresh out the slammer, I know who my first call will be to.’
Another line mentions ‘letters’ the narrator wrote to her lover, further reflecting the early nature of Gypsy’s relationship with Ken and Ryan.
Unfortunately, just three months after her release from prison, her marriage with Ryan fell apart and Gypsy filed for divorce.
However, it appears Ken is back in the picture, with the two making joint appearances on TikTok and recently revealing matching husky tattoos on their arms, TMZ reported back in early April.
In addition to the HBO doc, Gypsy’s story was dramatized in the hit Hulu 2019 series The Act, which starred Joey King as Gypsy and Patricia Arquette as Dee Dee.
The fanfare around the show led to a surge of public interest in Gypsy.

Many were charmed by her sweet-sounding, high-pitched voice, and, due to her severe abuse, saw in her a sympathetic character despite her involvement in the heinous crime of matricide.
While Gypsy didn’t kill her abusive mother herself, she persuaded her ex, who’d been her first serious boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to end Dee Dee’s life.
Nicholas ultimately stabbed Dee Dee to death while she slept in her bed, and was subsequently sentenced to life in prison. His relationship with Gypsy ended after they were sent to separate prisons.
Consequently, Gypsy inadvertently developed something of a cult following among denizens of social media.
The Gypsy fervor was especially zealous among TikTok users, who flocked to glamourizing ‘fancam’ montages of the convict, many comprised of clips and snapshots of her in court and prison.
Correspondingly, the song’s lyrics mention ‘Camera flashes, welcome bashes,’ perhaps nodding to Gypsy’s newfound fame.
It’s no secret that Gypsy is a massive fan of Taylor.
Meeting Taylor was among her top priorities upon her release from prison.
She went on to purchase tickets to go see the Kansas City Chiefs play in hopes of meeting the pop star – but the two did not end up crossing paths.
In any case, Gypsy certainly seems more aware than ever of her public image.
The media personality debuted a new nose on the red carpet earlier this month.
Her friend, Nadiya Vizier, told TMZ of Gypsy getting the procedure: ‘The main thing is that she wanted a more feminine looking nose. She just wants to fix it up and give it a more feminine look.’
