outlander season 7: major homecoming scene cut from episode with last-minute title change

A major homecoming scene was cut from Outlander season 7

Outlander’s team made a last-minute episode title change in season 7, adding surprise for fans.

The seventh series of Outlander, which debuted on Starz and Lionsgate+ in June 2023, had a little switch-up with the title of its sixth episode, “Where The Waters Meet”.

The episode saw main character Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan, signing a brief contract with the militia, leading to Cornelius Harnett, played by James Weber Brown, sending him off to New York.

Accompanied by his wife, Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe), Jamie goes to fight in the Battle of Carillon at Fort Ticonderoga.

You might wonder how the episode’s title connects with this battle – well, let’s explain!

On the official Outlander podcast, show runner Matthew B Roberts clarified: “The title was originally Ticonderoga and through our consultants, we found out that the best translation is ‘where the waters meet’.”

“So we mixed it up and called it that.”

The name Ticonderoga means “at the junction of two waterways” – quite fitting, given that the Battle of Carillon happened near Fort Ticonderoga in 1758.

In this pivotal fight, a small force of 4,000 French soldiers successfully fended off an attack from a massive force of 16,000 British troops.

In the midseason finale of Outlander, Roger Wakefield (played by Richard Rankin) and Buck travel back in time through the stones at Craigh Na Dun. They believe that Rob has taken Jemmy back to the 18th Century.

While they’re on their journey, Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton) stays in the early 1980s with their daughter Mandy. She’s hoping that their family will be together again soon.

At the same time, Jamie, Claire and Ian (John Bell) are on a British ship. The Highlander is feeling seasick again.

But it’s a happy moment for them when they see the Scottish coast in the distance. It means they’re nearly home.

UK fans of the time-travelling drama might be worried. They’ve been able to watch the show on Lionsgate+, which used to be Starzplay.

Last year, it was announced that this streaming service would be closing down. So far, there’s been no news about where Outlander will be shown next.

So UK viewers might have to wait even longer for season seven part two. They’ll have to wait until another platform decides to show the drama.
