Force Motors has officially launched the highly anticipated 2024 Gurkha SUV in the Indian market today, following extensive testing of both the 3-door and 5-door variants. This move comes ahead of the imminent launch of the 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar, reigniting the fierce rivalry between the two iconic SUVs. The updated 3-door Gurkha is set to compete directly with the Mahindra Thar 3-door, while the 5-door Gurkha will vie for market share against contenders like the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar.

Force Gurkha 5 door: Specs

As per Times Drive report, the 2024 Gurkha debuts with refreshed aesthetics, enhanced features, and a revamped powertrain. Boasting multibeam ‘Force LED Pro Edge headlamps’, LED DRLs, a snorkel, and 18-inch alloy wheels, the SUV exudes a commanding presence on the road. Notably, the 5-door variant offers a 2+3+2 seating configuration with captain seats in the third row, while the 3-door variant adopts a 2+2 layout with all four seats equipped with captain seats for added comfort and convenience.

Inside the cabin, Force Motors has infused modernity with a digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a shift knob selector with shift-on-the-fly 4WD capability, idle start/stop functionality, a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, and electrically adjustable OVRMs. As pre Times Drive report, safety features include cornering lights, follow-me-home headlights, all-around independent suspension, power-assisted hydraulic steering, power windows, TPMS, dual airbags, ABS, and EBD. With a ground clearance of 233mm and water wading capability of up to 700mm, the Gurkha is well-equipped to tackle varied terrains.

Under the hood, the 2024 Gurkha packs a punch with its highly anticipated 2.6 L 4-cylinder diesel engine, delivering a power output of 138.08 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. As per Times Drive report, paired with an electronic 4WD system with shift-on-the-fly functionality and mechanically locking differentials, the SUV promises formidable performance both on and off the road.

As per several media reports the expected price is around Rs 16 Lakhs in India. Prasan Firodia, Managing Director of Force Motors, expressed enthusiasm about the Gurkha’s versatility, stating, “India’s diverse geography offers innumerable opportunities to explore and experience… The 2024 Force Gurkha is a unique vehicle that is equally comfortable doing daily commutes, highway drives, and overlanding across the country.”
