Das Spitzenrestaurant in der legendären Villa Kellermann von TV-Moderator Günther Jauch in Potsdam schließt im Sommer. Jauch hatte es vor rund fünf Jahren zusammen mit Sternekoch Tim Raue eröffnet, der sich aber 2023 aus dem Restaurant zurückzog. »Wir hätten gerne weitergemacht. Aber Corona, stark gestiegene Betriebskosten und eine angespannte Personalsituation ließen keine andere Entscheidung zu«, sagte Geschäftsführer Manfred Dengel laut einer Mitteilung. Der Restaurantbetrieb schließe am 21. Juni.

Jedoch sei vorstellbar, das Restaurant in Zukunft zu verpachten oder als Eventlocation anzubieten, hieß es in der Mitteilung weiter. Jauch selbst wollte sich laut Nachrichtenagentur dpa auf Anfrage darüber hinaus nicht äußern.

Jauch, der in Potsdam wohnt und sich in der brandenburgischen Landeshauptstadt schon seit langer Zeit für den Erhalt historischer Immobilien engagiert, hatte die Villa am Heiligen See denkmalgerecht sanieren lassen. Kurz nach der Restauranteröffnung hatte der TV-Moderator 2019 die Auszeichnung »Gastronom des Jahres« erhalten. Der Restaurant-Führer »Gault&Millau« nannte die Villa Kellermann ein Stück Kulturgut und ein Vorzeigerestaurant mit weltläufigem Flair.

Das im Jahr 1914 errichtete Haus hat eine bewegte Geschichte. Benannt ist es nach dem Schriftsteller Bernhard Kellermann, der für seinen Roman »Der Tunnel« bekannt ist. Zu DDR-Zeiten war die Villa Sitz des Kulturbunds und ein Treffpunkt von Intellektuellen, Künstlern und Schriftstellern. Nach der Wende wurde dort einige Jahre lang bis 2009 das beliebte Ristorante Villa Kellermann mit italienischer Küche betrieben.
