Greta Thunberg mocks Biden's ‘Build Back Better' plan as ‘blah, blah, blah'

Teen climate activist Greta Thunberg mocked President Biden’s “Build Back Better” plan as she chastised world leaders Tuesday for their “empty” promises of eco-action — dismissing it all as “blah, blah, blah.”

“This is all we hear from our so-called leaders: Words. Words that sound great but so far have led to no action,” the 18-year-old Swedish activist told crowds at the Youth4Climate summit in Milan, Italy.

“This is not about some expensive, politically correct green act of bunny hugging, or blah, blah, blah. Build Back Better, blah, blah, blah,” she said, deriding Biden’s controversial $3.5 trillion post-COVID plan.

“Green economy, blah, blah, blah. Net-zero by 2050, blah, blah, blah. Climate-neutral, blah, blah, blah,” she continued to applause.

“Our hopes and dreams drown in their empty words and promises,” she said, accusing governments of “shamelessly congratulating themselves” for insufficient pledges to cut emissions and promises of financing.

“They have now had 30 years of blah, blah blah. And where has this led us?” she asked.

The three-day summit gathered 400 climate activists from 180 countries, producing recommendations for a major climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland, that begins Oct. 31.

Thunberg was dismissive of the likely success of both gatherings, however.

“They invite cherry-picked young people to pretend they are listening to us,” Thunberg said.

“But they are not. They are clearly not listening to us. Just look at the numbers. Emissions are still rising. The science doesn’t lie.

“Leaders like to say, ‘We can do it.’ They obviously don’t mean it. But we do,” she said.

Other speakers included Vanessa Nakate, a 24-year-old activist from Uganda, who collapsed in tears after speaking, getting comfort from Thunberg.
