‘Green Book’ Actor's Body Dumped In NYC: NYPD, Report

‘green book’ actor's body dumped in nyc: nypd, report

Frank Vallelonga attends the Gala Screening of “Green Book” at AFI FEST 2018 Presented By Audi at TCL Chinese Theatre on Nov. 9, 2018 in Hollywood, California.

NEW YORK CITY — The body of Frank Vallelonga Jr., an actor in the Oscar-winning film “Green Book,” was found dumped on a Bronx street this week after he died of a suspected drug overdose, according to police and a report.

A second man — Steven Smith, 35, of The Bronx — has been arrested and charged with concealment of a corpse, NYPD officials said.

Vallelonga, 60, was the namesake son of a Copacabana bouncer whose 1962 road trip through the segregated South with Black musician Don Shirley inspired the movie “Green Book.”

The younger Vallelonga — who also appeared in the HBO series “The Sopranos” — played the role of his own uncle while Viggo Mortensen played his father, Frank “Tony Lip” Vallelonga Sr.

How Vallelonga’s path ended on a Bronx street is still under investigation, police said.

But investigators believe he died of a drug overdose, according to the New York Daily News. Smith had told authorities that Vallelonga was already dead in a car a woman left behind, the Daily News reported.
