Govt to build PPR project in Bestari Jaya
Housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming says the project will solve a decades-old housing problem that has plagued 245 families from five estates in Bestari Jaya.
PETALING JAYA: A total of RM75 million has been allocated for the construction of 245 People’s Housing Project (PPR) units in Bestari Jaya, says housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming.
In a statement, Nga said Berjaya Corporation Bhd had agreed to donate 20 acres of land to the ministry for the project, which will be located at Lot 25, Sungai Tinggi estate.
Nga said the project would solve a decades-old housing problem plaguing 245 families from five estates in Bestari Jaya (formerly Batang Berjuntai), who had been evicted from the estates without a home to move into.
The five estates are the Mary, Nigel Gardner, Sungai Tinggi, Minyak and Bukit Tagar estates.
Nga said while a PPR project in Bestari Jaya was approved in 2018, it had to be re-tendered due to the government’s “change in direction”.
“Concerned about their fate, the ministry has re-examined the application for the construction of houses for the affected 245 estate workers through a strategic collaboration with Berjaya Corporation Bhd,” said Nga.
“The federal government and the Selangor state government have allocated RM75 million to ensure the success of this project.
“The ministry is committed to providing affordable housing for the well-being and comfort of Malaysians.”
