Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume has urged the Albanese government to “resist the temptation” to spend in their upcoming Budget as it is going to “make the problem worse”.
The latest Newspoll suggests voters are backing the Albanese government’s plans for renewable energy projects and sovereign manufacturing.
“I think they’ve already flagged that this is going to be a typical Labor big-spending Budget,” Ms Hume told Sky News Australia.
“We would be urging the government to resist that temptation, however, because that’s simply going to make the problem worse.
“Anthony Albanese himself has already said that everything that they have done to alleviate cost of living in the past has been ineffective, which was why he then went … going back on the promise of maintaining the stage three tax cuts.”
