Für die meisten Fußballer ist das Estadio Santiago Bernabeu furchteinflößend. Schon die Historie der königlichen Arena in Madrid lässt viele Gäste erzittern. Leon Goretzka dagegen verbindet positive Erinnerungen an ein Auswärtsspiel bei Real, die seinen Glauben an einen Erfolg des FC Bayern im Champions-League-Halbfinale stärken.

Vor neun Jahren eroberte er mit Schalke 04 an einem “magischen Abend” im Achtelfinale der Königsklasse den Fußballtempel in der spanischen Hauptstadt. “Das war ein außergewöhnliches Spiel”, erzählte Goretzka im Interview mit seinem Klub: “Wir haben Standing Ovations bekommen.”

Mittendrin beim 4:3 der Schalker war damals auch Leroy Sane, der sein erstes Tor in der Champions League erzielte. Am Ende reichte den Königsblauen der Auswärtssieg nicht zum Einzug ins Viertelfinale, zu Hause verloren sie 0:2. “Uns hat damals ein Tor zum Weiterkommen gefehlt. Diesmal möchte ich es mit Bayern besser machen”, sagte Goretzka. Das Finale in Wembley am 1. Juni ist das Ziel.

Die Grundlage dafür wollen die Bayern im Hinspiel am Dienstag (21.00 Uhr/Prime Video) legen, am 8. Mai fällt die Entscheidung im Bernabeu. “Ich glaube an uns”, sagte Goretzka. In der Runde zuvor gegen den FC Arsenal sei “etwas entstanden”. Das habe “man danach in der Kabine gespürt”. Goretzka hofft auf ein Happy End einer holprigen Saison: “Das könnte der Anfang von etwas Großem sein.”
