GOP Rep. Nancy Mace meets with 'bad a**' tiger queen Carole Baskin to promote bill to address private ownership of big cats and direct contact activities like paid petting

Nancy Mace hosted the ‘tiger queen’ herself Carole Baskin on Tuesday for a discussion about her push calling solutions related to the private ownership of big cats and cub petting.

”Hey all you cats and kittens!” the Republican representative for South Carolina tweeted and posted to Instagram along with an image holding her dog Liberty alongside Baskin in Washington, D.C.

‘Carol Baskin is up here this week talking Big Cats,’ Mace continued. ‘We discussed the animal rights legislation she’s championing (and more).’

In a one-minute-and-forty-five-second video posted to Instagram by Animal Wellness Action Executive Director Marty Irby, Baskin and Mace called each other ‘bad a**es’.

‘I’m so excited to be here on the Big Cat Public Safety Act, and so thankful that you were a co-sponsor on this bill. When I met you when we came up here the last time, I was so impressed and I said, ‘This woman is a bad a** . She is going to be the person – ‘.

‘Well you’re a bad a** too,’ Mace cut in. ‘So the feeling is mutual.’

Baskin, 60, indicated she will meet with more lawmakers while up in D.C. promoting the Big Cat Bill, which aims to stop the inhumane practice of taking tiger and other big cat cubs from their mothers for the use of direct contact activities or private ownership as a pet.

The Tiger King star lashed out in October at the Netflix show that made her famous because she felt she had a ‘villain edit’ in the first season. Baskin also gave her opinion on the new season.

The TV-star and activist is the CEO and Founder of Big Cat Rescue and claimed the ‘one good thing’ to come out of the first series was the call for more humanity for big cat cubs but insisted the show changed her life ‘for the worse.’

Baskin became famous after the show Tiger King aired on Netflix but has come under fire due to speculation linking her with the disappearance of her second husband, Don Lewis

Baskin became famous after the show Tiger King aired on Netflix but has come under fire due to speculation linking her with the disappearance of her second husband, Don Lewis

‘The only good thing that came out of Tiger King was the one scene where they were taking the baby cub away from the mother, while she was still giving birth,’ she told Today in October.

‘When people saw that, they didn’t want that to be happening. They wanted to change that, to end that kind of abuse,’ she added. ‘An awful lot of people didn’t even know about the abuse happening, so the one thing that it did do was raise awareness about it.’

After the series aired, Baskin became the subject of speculation linking her with the disappearance of her second husband, Don Lewis.

She has always vehemently denied the rumors.

The Big Cat Public Safety Act is sponsored in the house by Democratic Representative Mike Quigley of Illinois and Pennsylvania Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick.

In the Senate it’s sponsored by Democratic Senators Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and Tom Carper of Delaware and Republicans Susan Collins of Maine and Richard Burr of North Carolina.

Mace is also calling for a crackdown related to USPS’ role in illegal animal fighting.

In a letter sent to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service last month, Mace and Quigley expressed concerns with USPS transporting animals, in particular birds, for illegal fighting purposes.

The letter was signed by 36 House members – 24 Democrats and 12 Republicans.
