Google Wallet is now available for Indian users: know what it is and how to use it

Google Wallet is now available for Indian users. The app can be downloaded from Play Store. The rollout has begun in a phased manner. Google Wallet allows users to store their debit cards, credit cards, loyalty cards, and gift cards among other things, as well as make payments through their mobile devices. It was launched in 2011 but was later replaced by Google Pay in 2018. However in India, Google will offer two separate apps– Google Pay and the Google Wallet.  With Google Wallet, users can send money to friends, pay for goods both online and in physical stores, and even tap and pay at NFC-enabled terminals using their smartphones. However, now it is available as a separate app and is not the same as Google Pay, which is another payments app offered by Google.

Google Wallet makes it simpler to make online and in-store shopping by eliminating the need to carry physical cards or cash. The service also provides added security features like PIN protection and the ability to remotely disable the service on a lost or stolen device.

As per TechCrunch report, Google Wallet will work on smartphones that come with NFC support. In India, Google will continue to offer both the apps separately. It is up to the users how they use it. The app can also be downloaded on watches that are powered by WearOS.Â

–Google Wallet allows users to send money to friends, family, or anyone with an email address or phone number. This feature was especially useful for splitting bills or reimbursing friends.

–Users can also receive money from others directly into their Google Wallet account. This made it easy to accept payments from friends or for goods and services.

– With Google Wallet, users can make online payments on websites and apps that accept Google Wallet as a payment method. This streamlined the checkout process by allowing users to pay without entering their payment details every time.
