No compromise with corruption, warns Health Minister

Dhaka, Jan. 19 — Warning of strict action against corruption, Minister for Health and Family Planning Affairs Ministry Dr Samanta Lal Sen said on Friday that no one will be spared if found involved with graft during his tenure.

“I myself do not commit corruption and no one will be spared if they commit corruption in the health sector,” the renowned physician-turn minister said.

He made the remark while talking to journalists during his inspection at Sonargaon Upazila Health Complex in Narayanganj on Friday morning.

“It is difficult to stop corruption suddenly. But you (journalists) keep faith. I haven’t made corruption all my life and won’t do so in the future. I won’t accept any corruption during my stay and no one will be spared if anyone makes corruption,” he warned.

During this inspection, Dr Samanta talked to patients and wanted to know about their treatment.

He also visited the operation theater, Mujib Corner, Sheikh Russell Kids Corner and the hospital premises.

The minister expressed his satisfaction over the services and foods provided to the patients and environment of the hospital.

Earlier, he went to a Hindu temple where he talked to religious leaders and attended a ritual.

Dhaka Divisional Director (Health) Dr Farid Hossain Miah, Line Director (Upazila Healthcare) Dr Md Rizwanur Rahman, Narayanganj’s Civil Surgeon Dr Abul Fazal Muhammad Mushiur Rahman, Executive Engineer of Health Engineering Department Shawkat Mohibur Rob and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Dipan Debnath, among others were present on the occasion.
