Goggia deklassiert die Konkurrenz in Lake Louise – Suter als beste Schweizerin Fünfte

Sofia Goggia ist in der Abfahrten in Lake Louise eine Klasse für sich. Die Schweizerinnen werden geschlagen und verpassen das Podest. Corinne Suter und Jasmine Flury fahren immerhin in die Top Ten.

Neue Saison, gleiches Resultat: Sofia Goggia ist in der Abfahrt nicht zu schlagen. In Lake Louise knüpfte die Italienerin dort an, wo sie den (Speed-)Weltcup nach ihrer Knieverletzung Ende Januar verlassen hatte und feierte den fünften Sieg in Serie. Bei den beiden Erfolgen von Lara Gut-Behrami zum Schluss des letzten Winters war Goggia wegen ihrer Verletzung nicht am Start gewesen.

In Kanada dominierte die 29-jährige Abfahrts-Weltcupsiegerin die Konkurrenz nach Belieben. Sie blieb dort in der Hocke, wo andere längst halb aufrecht auf dem Ski standen. Sie fuhr dort auf Zug, wo andere die Kurven nur andrifteten. Goggia war mit einer Ausnahme auf jedem der fünf Abschnitte mindestens drei Zehntel schneller als der Rest.

Das Resultat auf der Anzeigetafel war entsprechend bemerkenswert: Mit 1,47 Sekunden Vorsprung auf die zweitklassierte Amerikanerin Breezy Johnson war Goggia der Konkurrenz so weit entrückt wie keine Siegerin mehr in einer Weltcup-Abfahrt seit dem 6. Februar 2016 und dem Erfolg von Lindsey Vonn vor Fabienne Suter in Garmisch; die Amerikaner hatte damals 1,51 Sekunden auf die Schwyzerin herausgefahren.

Suter «ohne Speed», aber doch Fünfte

Goggia bewegte sich schlicht in einer anderen Sphäre. Sie war auf einem Niveau, das die Schweizer Speed-Queens Corinne Suter und Lara Gut-Behrami in ihrer aktuellen Verfassung nicht hatten erreichen können. Weltmeisterin Suter war der Trainingsrückstand nach der Ende September erlittenen Knochenprellung am Schienbein-Plateau auf der ganzen Strecke anzumerken. Die Schwyzerin wirkte gehemmt, die fehlenden Trainingsfahrten im Herbst hatten in Lake Louise einen unruhigen Lauf zur Folge. «Mir fehlte der Grundspeed. Ich kam von oben bis unten nicht richtig ins Fahren», sagte Suter gegenüber SRF.

Unter Berücksichtigung dieser Umstände ist ihr 5. Platz an sich ein beachtliches Resultat. Aber Suter verlor satte zwei Sekunden auf Goggia und fast fünf Zehntel auf die drittklassierte Österreicherin Mirjam Puchner. Vom Podest, das sie im letzten Winter in vier von sieben Weltcup-Abfahrten erreicht hatte, war sie diesmal weit entfernt.

Gut-Behrami noch hinter Nufer

Lara Gut-Behrami war aufgrund ihrer angeschlagenen Gesundheit von Beginn weg auf verlorenem Posten. Und dies buchstäblich: Beim Start verlor sie kurz den Griff des linken Stocks aus der Hand. So stand die Fahrt unter keinem guten Stern – genau wie die gesamte Annäherung an dieses Rennen.

Seit Wochen macht Gut-Behrami eine hartnäckige Erkältung zu schaffen. Ohne Kraft verlor sie bis ins Ziel 2,74 Sekunden auf Goggia. Einen ähnlich grossen Rückstand handelte sich Gut-Behrami in der Abfahrt letztmals vor zwei Jahren ein (2,60 Sekunden) – ebenfalls in Lake Louise. Als 17. klassierte sie sich am Ende noch drei Ränge hinter Teamkollegin Priska Nufer.

Hinterher suchte Gut-Behrami die Gründe für ihr schlechtes Resultat indes nur bei ihrer Fahrt. «Es war schwierig mit den schnell wechselnden Verhältnissen. Ich habe dies nicht gut interpretiert, und es lief mir nicht optimal. Mit der Gesundheit hat dies nicht viel zu tun.»

Suter also ohne Speed und gehemmt, Gut-Behrami neben der Linie und entkräftet: So sorgte Jasmine Flury für die positive Überraschung aus Schweizer Sicht. Die 28-jährige Bündnerin wurde Neunte und fuhr zum 15. Mal im Weltcup in die Top Ten. Flury war schon in der letzten Saison mit zwei Top-Ten-Platzierungen die Schweizer Nummer 3 in der Abfahrt.
