Get an up-close look at Apple's Mac Studio in augmented reality

Apple has made it easy to see the Mac Studio on your desk before it ships thanks to augmented reality in iPhone and iPad.

Augmented reality has become a big talking point for Apple in recent years, and the company tries to push it anywhere it can. Apple’s website contains a multitude of AR objects that can be viewed to scale through your iPhone or iPad.

For example, the newly announced Mac Studio can be viewed as an AR object through your iPhone display. Simply navigate to Apple’s product webpage and scroll nearly to the bottom of the page. A section with big bold text will offer to show you the Mac Studio in augmented reality.

After tapping the link to “view in AR” a modular window will open up showing a view through your device’s camera. Scan your area for a flat surface in a brightly lit room to place the AR object. Devices with LiDAR like the iPhone 13 Pro or iPad Pro will find a surface fastest.

The device will be placed automatically once a suitable area is discovered. Use your fingers to rotate and adjust the placement as needed, or physically move your device around for a better look.

Apple makes its AR objects with a lot of detail, so get in close to see inside ports and material textures. Be aware, however, that if you point the camera away from the flat surface the AR object may lose its ability to stay anchored.

There is also a toggle to turn off augmented reality and just view the AR object within the software window. From here users can pinch to zoom and rotate the device without worrying about fiddling with augmented reality.

There are many links across Apple’s website to view objects in AR, just look for the blue text and a cube-shaped icon that illustrates an AR object link. View any of the devices announced at the March Apple event like the green iPhone 13 Pro or the new iPad Air 5.
