Gangland killer Dessie Dundon vows to marry lifelong girlfriend when freed from prison
Gangland killer Dessie Dundon has vowed to marry his lifelong girlfriend when he is freed from jail.
He has promised Ciara Lynch who visits him every week in Mountjoy Prison, they will tie the knot on his release. But he will also be praying that she won’t be in custody herself .
She is due to be sentenced next month for laundering 50,000 of cash that was handed over to her and a friend while they sat in her car and was witnessed by police.
The offense carries a maximum jail sentence of 14 years however the Judge in the case, Judge Keenan Johnson, had not yet decided whether to give her custodial sentence or not .
He said will let her know at the next hearing of the case in June at Portlaoise Circuit Court. The Judge told her it was a serious offense involving a significant sum of money that assists serious criminals.
The money was said to be part payment to the Dundon crime family for organising the execution of notorious Dublin hitman Robbie Lawlor in revenge for killing 17 year old Keane Mulready Woods at the height of the Drogheda drugs feud in late January, 2020.
The Gardai accepted the murder was nothing to do with Miss Lynch after she pleaded guilty to one court of money laundering in court last January.
Dessie Dundon,41, has now served 21 years of a life sentence for the abduction and murder of rival Limerick gangland boss Ciaran Keane in 2003. He has not been given a release date yet. Keane was shot once in the head.

He first met Ciara while he was behind bars when she was 12 years old and was visiting someone else. They became good friends and have been together ever since.
A Mountjoy prison source said; “She visits Dessie every week without fail, is totally loyal and absolutely loves the bones of him. They are all lovey-dovey together and he promised to marry her as soon as he gets out.
“He doesn’t know when he will be freed yet but he is behaving himself behind bars so it should be sooner rather than later. Everyone in the place knows they will be getting married on his release. Ciara is besotted by him.”
Dundon is now being detained in what is known as the Progressive Unit of Mountoy where all the so-called model prisoners are held.
He had asked to be repatriated to a jail in England where he was born but there doesn’t seem to be much hope of that happening soon.
