Ganda subsidi upah bagi pekerja sektor pelancongan, kata Guan Eng

GEORGE TOWN: Kerajaan perlu bertindak segera menggandakan subsidi upah untuk sektor pelancongan, selepas mengambil kira kerugian besar sektor itu membabitkan RM11.3 bilion dengan lebih 120 hotel ditutup susulan wabak Covid-19.

Ketika ini, kerajaan menawarkan subsidi upah sebanyak RM600 kepada pekerja sterbabit elama empat bulan.

Setiausaha Agung DAP, Lim Guan Eng berkata, lapan pakej rangsangan ekonomi kerajaan Perikatan Nasional (PN) berjumlah RM530 bilion gagal membantu industri pelancongan, malah menawarkan pinjaman dan potongan cukai atau rebat tidak memberi makna selepas ketiadaan sebarang hasil akibat perniagaan yang teruk terjejas.

“Industri pelancongan terlalu penting untuk diabaikan atau ditinggalkan tanpa sebarang bantuan kewangan bersepadu,” katanya dalam kenyataan.

“Sebagai permulaan, kerajaan perlu menggandakan program subsidi upah kepada semua pekerja industri pelancongan, selain menawarkan moratorium pinjaman bank tanpa faedah, geran perniagaan, sewa dan subsidi utiliti.

“Walaupun kita masih boleh berdebat mengenai jumlah yang akan diberikan, masalahnya sekarang adalah jika tidak ada langsung yang ditawarkan, tidak ada apa yang boleh diharapkan dapat bertahan,” katanya.

Lim berkata, suntikan tunai RM45 bilion yang dicadangkan oleh Pakatan Harapan (PH) dan dipersetujui kerajaan persekutuan dalam Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) bagi Transformasi dan Kestabilan dengan perdana menteri, Kementerian Kewangan sepatutnya dapat memberikan bantuan kewangan yang sangat diperlukan.

Katanya, penutupan terbaharu membabitkan Hotel Royal Penang yang mempunyai 276 bilik, menjadi hotel ketiga di Pulau Pinang ditutup, adalah tanda kegagalan kerajaan persekutuan menyelamatkan industri pelancongan dan perhotelan.

Lim berkata, menurut data daripada Jabatan Perangkaan, Nilai Tambah Kasar Industri Pelancongan (GVATI) pada 2019 mencatat sumbangan sebanyak 15.9% kepada Keluaran Dalam Negara Kasar (KDNK) berjumlah RM240 bilion.

Menurut laporan Persatuan Hotel Malaysia (MAH) pada Jun lalu, menunjukkan industri itu mencapai kadar purata harian (ADR) RM190 dan kadar purata penghunian (AOR) 32% pada 2020.

Katanya, ADR bagi 2021 diunjurkan berada dalam lingkungan RM180 hingga RM190, dengan jangkaan AOR merudum kepada 23%.

Lim berkata, ini adalah prospek menakutkan pada saat industri pelancongan sudah mengalami kerugian RM100 bilion tahun lalu.
