We have all considered escaping our hectic daily lives by sailing to a remote island, somewhere where noisy neighbours and demanding bosses are not a thing.
If you are still considering just that, look no further than the tiny Dursey Island in West Cork, where a picturesque farmhouse has gone up for sale.
The island, just off the Beara Peninsula, is linked to the mainland by Ireland’s only cable car – and queues are unlikely, as Dursey has an official population count of only three, reports CorkBeo.
If your heart is set on it already, the stone-clad three-bedroom cottage is a sight to behold.
The property in the island village of Ballynacallagh is going for €245,000.
Realtors Sherry FitzGerald O’Neill describe the home as being in a “sheltered, sunny location” and say the cottage was recently renovated and extended and features double glazed windows, a wood burning stove, timber floors and solar panels.
The layout includes an entrance lobby, a cozy living room, an open plan kitchen and dining room downstairs and three bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.

There is also a gravel courtyard area and lawn outdoors, as well as a small, detached storage shed.
Sherry FitzGerald O’Neill called it a “cosy home full of character” that is easily accessible. It’s located just over half a mile from the cable car, which runs from 9.30am to 7.30pm daily from March to October.
As well as being Ireland’s only cable car, it is the only cable car in all of Europe that crosses open seawater.

A popular eight-mile walk loops the island, which is just four miles long and less than a mile wide.
If you appreciate your local amenities, there unfortunately are no shops, restaurants, or bars. “Dursey Island is an historic island with a rich heritage,” Sherry FitzGerald O’Neill said.
“Many people come just to enjoy the wild and untamed nature of the place and the magical coastline.”
