LIVE – Updated at 01:47

The family of missing YouTuber Gabby Petito have called on the family of her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, to help them find their daughter. The family asked them “as parents, how can you put us through this pain” and begged them to at least tell them where Ms Petito was left, or if they are even looking in the right area. The family also revealed they do not believe Ms Petito’s final text message on 30 August actually came from her.

Ms Petito and her fiancé were reportedly arguing and hitting each other, according to a police report from Utah. The couple, who were on a road trip in Ms Petito’s van, were spotted having an argument in Moab City, Utah on 12 August. The police determined the incident was a “mental health break” rather than a domestic assault situation and separated the couple for the night. Bodycamera footage of a police encounter with the couple shows Ms Petito crying over the argument she and Mr Laundrie had been having during their trip.

On Wednesday, the North Port Police Department in Florida announced they were treating Ms Petito’s fiancé as a person of interest in their investigation. He has thus far refused to cooperate with law enforcement. Ms Petito’s family released a statement begging him to assist police in their search for the woman.

Ms Petito disappeared while on a road trip with her fiancé, Mr Laundrie, who returned without her, prompting a frantic search for the 22-year-old woman that began on 11 September.

Nicole Schmidt, Ms Petito’s mother, said the last time she spoke with her daughter was 30 August, but because it was a text she cannot be sure that she was actually speaking with the woman. Before that the mother and daughter video chatted on 23 or 24 August.

When her daughter did not check in after Mr Laundrie returned early from their road trip, she grew concerned and eventually the family alerted the police.

‘She wouldn’t wander off’: Friend of Gabby Petito casts more doubts on final text

01:47 , Josh Marcus

Gabby Petito’s final text to her family before disappearing was confounding: “No service in Yosemite.”

Her last known location was Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, and Yosemite, in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains, is roughly 800 miles away.

Her family now says they doubt that Ms Petito was the one who sent that text, and a friend of the missing YouTuber told The Sun on Friday she has her doubts as well. The friend, who asked to remain anonymous, said she and Gabby had been planning to meet in Yellowstone National Park, which spans Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. They were going to touch base with a phone call at the end of August, which never happened.

“That was the next spot. At least when we planned it. I was the only one going to see them,” the friend said. “She wouldn’t wander off and not contact her family. I know that for a fact…She wouldn’t blow me off either. She’s my person. And I can’t stop thinking about how scared she must be.”

“I also don’t think she’d text her mom ‘no service’. She’d call as soon as she had service, in my opinion,” the friend added.

He reminded the reporters that Mr Laundrie has 5th Amendment Rights under the US Constitution. Mr Laundrie is well within his rights to refuse speaking to the police.

Moonflower Co-op worker speaks of eerie link between Gabby Petito and double murder

Utah fight between Gabby Petito and fiance Brian Laundrie occurred outside Moonflower Co-op, the workplace of one of women killed in the surrounding mountains

The police report out of Moab, City, Utah, reveals that the night Gabby Petito and her fiance Brian Laundrie fought – 12 August – they did so near the Moonflower Co-op.

The Moonflower Co-op is where Kylen Schulte worked. Ms Schulte and her wife, Crystal Turner, were murdered during a camping trip into the nearby mountains. The couple told other campers about a “creeper dude” stalking around their campsite.

There is no evidence other than proximity and the time at which they took place to link Ms Petito and Mr Laundrie to Ms Schulte and Ms Beck. However, the Utah police said they would not rule anything out while investigating both the murders and the disappearance of Ms Petito.

Police aren’t ‘ruling out’ link between Gabby Petito disappearance and Utah double homicide

02:48 , Josh Marcus

Police in Utah say they are exploring the connection between the disappearance of Gabby Petito, and the gruesome double-homicide of a couple in Utah that occurred a few days after she and her boyfriend Brian Laundrie were seen in the Moab area.

“We’re looking at everything, I mean, anything and everything that was suspicious around that time or we’re not ruling anything out at this time,” a spokesman for the Grand County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News on Wednesday. “So we’re just investigating the information as it comes in.”

On 18 August, Crystal Turner, 38, and Kylen Schulte, 24, who had recently married, were found shot to death in the La Sal Mountains near Moab, after having said they had encountered a “creeper dude” while they were camping. No suspects have yet emerged in that investigation.

About a week before their killing, Ms Petito and Mr Laundrie were spotted in Moab having an emotional argument, that police later said may have indicated they were going through a “mental health crisis.”

Gabby Petito fiance Brain Laundrie’s lawyer releases statement saying he will “remain silent”

Wednesday 15 September 2021 21:22 , Graig Graziosi

Brian Laundrie, the fiance of Gabby Petito, will “remain silent,” according to his lawyer.

In the statement, Mr Laundrie’s lawyer, Steve Bertolino, said that “in my experience, intimate partners are often the first person law enforcement focuses their attention on in cases like this and the warning that “any statement made will be used against you” is true, regardless of whether my client had anything to do with Ms Petito’s disappearance.”

“As such, on the advice of counsel Mr Laundrie is not speaking on this matter,” he said.

Mr Bertolino acknowledged that Mr Laundrie has been named as a “person of interest” in the investigation, but that that “has not really changed” his advice for his client to “remain silent.”

Police called to fight between Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie before disappearance

Gabrielle Petito and fiance were having arguments, hitting each other according to Utah police report

Wednesday 15 September 2021 19:34 , Graig Graziosi

Fox13’s Kim Kuizon shared a snipped of a Moab City police report detailing an incident that occurred in Utah involving Gabrielle Petito and her fiance, Brian Laundrie.

The police statement, attributed to Moab City police officer Daniel Robbins, reveals that a witness named Christopher witnessed a distressing enough scene play out between Ms Petito and Mr Laundrie that he reported it to the police.

According to Mr Robbins, Mr Laundrie told him that he and Ms Petito were having an argument and he went to sit in the couple’s van to give himself space. The witness said he saw Ms Petito climb through the passenger side window and begin slapping Mr Laundrie, possibly fearing he might leave without her. The witness said he saw Mr Laundrie pushed her away by her face to avoid the slap. Mr Robbins reported that Mr Laundrie had scratches on his face and arms, which Mr Laundrie said came from Ms Petito. Another office notes that Mr Laundrie was not in fear for his well-being and “not a victim of ‘battered boyfriend syndrome.’”

Ultimately Mr Robbins determined that the incident was more indicative of a “metal health crisis” than a domestic assault, and separated the two for the evening. Earlier in the report he writes that Mr Laundrie said the tensions between the couple had been increasing in recent days and that both suffered from a mental health issue that was redacted in the report.

Gabrielle Petito’s mother says her fiance his family have been ignoring her texts

Wednesday 15 September 2021 18:33 , Graig Graziosi

Nicole Schmidt, Gabrielle Petito’s mother, told The Daily Mail that the woman’s fiance, Brian Laundrie, and his family have been ignoring her desperate attempts to find her daughter.

“I texted Brian’s mom that I was trying to get in touch with Gabby. I also texted Brian. I got no replies,” she said.

She said she knew something was wrong and felt she had to report her daughter’s disappearance “immediately.”

Mr Laundrie returned from a road trip the couple had taken on 1 September. Ms Schmidt reported Ms Petito as missing on 11 September. It is unclear when she first became suspicious of her daughter’s disappearance.

Ms Schmidt said that the last time she video chatted with her daughter was 25 August. She noted that she texted with her daughter on 30 August, but said she could not be sure she was speaking with her daughter since it was a text exchange.
