Jett Woo Earns First Call-Up To Vancouver

After 180 games at the AHL level, Jett Woo has been called up to the Vancouver Canucks for the first time. The call-up was announced Monday after Vancouver placed Carson Soucy on injury reserve. Originally a second-round pick in 2018, Woo sits second on the Abbotsford Canucks all-time games played list with 152 and was voted the team’s Unsung Hero last season.

Woo continues to develop and is having his best AHL season to date. He is on pace to set new career highs in goals, assists and points and has seen his shots per game increase again this year. One of Abbotsford’s most consistent defenders, he has also been a big part of the Canucks power play and penalty kill this season.

While Woo may not get into a game, as Vancouver already has four right-shot defencemen in the lineup, this call-up is a great reward. The timing is perfect, as Abbotsford does not play until Saturday, which means he can also get a few practices in with the NHL club before potentially being sent down before the Canucks matchup with the Calgary Wranglers. A player who has continued to improve year after year, he has earned the opportunity to show Rick Tocchet and his staff what he is capable of.
