Frank Dane feels unemployed since the abrupt end of his morning show

At the end of last year, Talpa announced that after three years Dane had to make way for a new morning show on Radio 538, presented by Wietze de Jager and Klaas van der Eerden. According to sources around Radio 538, Frank Dane and his team were ambushed and not informed of the sudden termination of their morning show.

That turns out to be correct, as Dane told RTL for the first time tonight. “That was a bolt from the blue for me. It was after Christmas, it was vacation, I was to leave for Spain the next day. And I got a call from: can you come here for a while?”, says Dane, who initially thought it might be a sick colleague. A few minutes later he got a call. “And then it was like: yes, we want to stop the morning show.”

Dane is still processing the abrupt end of his morning show, he released to presenter Bridget Maasland. ,,I’m glad I’m finally out the door, that I can be here again. Because I’m sitting at home a bit unemployed, twiddling my thumbs.

Talpa also offered Dane the opportunity to present until January 31, but the radio DJ did not like that. “But it feels like I’m going to my own funeral. So I thought: never mind.”

Dane has had one conversation with Talpa, but what the future holds for him is not yet clear. Dane does know one thing for sure: ,,Well, I started at 538 when I was eighteen. My heart is really there.”

Moreover, according to Dane, there are many more interests at play. ,,Of course I also have a team that I would really like to keep working. They also look at me, from Frank, what are you going to do? So if I said I’m quitting, it means it’s kind of done for them too.”
