A new patch is coming to Fortnite. That naturally means the Fortnite servers are expected to be down for a short time. Here is everything you need to know about Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, which is coming in update v29.40.

Fortnite Patch v29.40: Downtime

Fortnite Update v29.40 starts at the same time as Fortnite’s server downtime, on Thursday or Friday, May 2 or 3, 2024, at 4:00 a.m. ET. The servers are typically offline for up to 2 hours and 30 minutes. After that, you can log into the game as usual.

With every patch, new things come to the Fortnite island. And even if there are no official patch notes yet, we already have some info for you from leaks about Fortnite update v29.40.

The leaks come as often from our esteemed colleague Hypex, who suggests that the most content of the upcoming patch will be for the Star Wars event. Here’s everything you can expect from this week’s update.

Fortnite x Star Wars Collaboration

With the final update of season 2, we are getting the annual Fortnite x Star Wars collaboration, which promises to surpass all previous ones! The event is set to start on May 3. Here’s what we know about the Star Wars content coming with the Patch V.29.40.

New Skins From The Star Wars Universe

As previously leaked, we’re getting at least four more familiar faces from the Star Wars universe. These include Rebel General Lando Calrissian, the Wookiee Chewbacca, and Princess Leia Organa, also a rebel. The lineup is completed, as usual, with a Trooper, this time the AWR Trooper from the Rogue One movie.

Chewbacca’s Mythical Wookie Crossbow & Lightsabers

New event, new mythical weapons. Alongside the well-known lightsabers, we’ll also see Chewbacca’s Wookie Bowcaster matching his skin! We assume it will work just like the OG crossbows from Fortnite, meaning it has unlimited ammo. We might also expect that the bullet drop of the weapon will be easier to control than in the OG times.

Fortnite Festival

Fortnite is likely to bring the well-known Cantina as a Fortnite Jam stage in the Festival mode! Appropriate music will accompany it, the Cantina Band song. Play that same song – Alright, same song, here we go!

Lego Sets And Skins

The new Star Wars skins will of course also get their Lego versions. Additionally, new sets will allow you to recreate the Wookiee village of Kashyyyk from Star Wars.

Thunderbolt Of Zeus, Chains Of Hades & Wings Of Icarus Unvaulted

With the Star Wars event, the olympic and underworld items also return to the game. This includes the mythic Thunderbolt of Zeus, Chains of Hades and the Wings of Icarus. At the same time, the mythical Avatar Bending Scrolls will move into the vault on May 3.

Season 3 Hints & Teasers

After we already got a teaser with the OG glider, we expect more new hints and leaks about the new season soon. The teaser shows two dates. One of them is May 4th, which might hint at the upcoming Star Wars collaboration. The other date is in the middle of Chapter 5 Season 3 on June 8th. Whether Season 3 of Chapter 5 will get an Apocalypse theme as prophesied by the roadmap will likely be revealed in the next weeks.
