Former Ohio State running back exits transfer portal but stays in state
Former Ohio State running back Evan Pryor announced he plans to transfer to Cincinnati.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Evan Pryor’s next destination will not take him far from Ohio State football.
Pryor on Wednesday announced his commitment to Cincinnati. The former Buckeye running back entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal On Dec. 3.
Cincinnati moved into the Big 12 last season and finished 3-9 in its first Power 5 conference experience. Pryor, though, should compete for a bigger role than he would have been guaranteed with Ohio State.
Pryor came to OSU as a four-star, top-100 prospect out of North Carolina. He paired with TreVeyon Henderson, giving the 2021 signing class two high-upside players for the backfield’s long-term future.
However, Pryor lost all of the 2022 season due to a knee injury sustained in preseason camp. He returned this season for a deep bench role, totaling 49 yards on 19 carries.
With Dallan Hayden returning and Henderson considering sticking around as well, Pryor found another home.
The remaining question is whether OSU will also use the portal to replenish some of the backfield talent it has lost since the end of the season.
