Former Browns RB retires after 8 seasons

The number of players who have come and gone through the halls of Berea, Ohio as members of the Cleveland Browns is vast. That is especially true since the team’s return in 1999. Many Browns fans remember the good and the bad that come with many of those players but sometimes it is hard to keep track.

RB Duke Johnson was one of the few new-era Cleveland players who made it through four full seasons with the team. Drafted in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft, Johnson showed a lot of promise as a rookie when he had over 900 yards receiving and passing combined.

While he never had more than 100 carries after that in his eight-year career, he had 74 receptions for almost 700 yards in 2017 for the Browns. Johnson announced his retirement Sunday:

A dynamic back out of the University of Miami, Johnson spent two years with the Houston Texans after leaving Cleveland. In his first year wit the Texans, Johnson put up his career high in rushing yards with 410 with a very good 4.9 yards per carry average on just 83 carries.

Johnson last played with the Buffalo Bills in 2022 where he had two rushes in just one contest.
