Former All-Pro receiver Antonio Brown hints at wanting to join Cowboys; tells owner Jerry Jones to 'call' him

former all-pro receiver antonio brown hints at wanting to join cowboys; tells owner jerry jones to 'call' him

Free agent receiver Antonio Brown

Struck by several injuries at the wide receiver position, the Dallas Cowboys depth chart at wideout consists of clear-cut No. 1 CeeDee Lamb and a host of young but unproven talent.

Many have speculated that the Cowboys would make a move to bolster their wide receiver corps, with the start of the NFL season only weeks away.

With that in mind, seven-time Pro Bowler Antonio Brown might have just thrown his hat in the ring.

This week, Brown was asked by TMZ Sports if he had any interest in joining the Cowboys, to which he responded, “tell Jerry Jones to call me.” When asked to elaborate, Brown said, “if they want the production, maybe.”

Brown hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since walking out on the Tampa Buccaneers during a Week 17 matchup against the New York Jets last season.

The 33-year-old free agent has received little interest from teams around the league and even hinted at possible retirement earlier this year.

“Don’t play yourself looking for [me] to play,” Brown said back in May. “Obviously we live [for] the game, but you can’t play forever… I think I’m a great player that’s done everything in the game.”

If and when Brown decides to hang up his cleats for good, the four-time All-Pro has expressed interest in signing a one-day contract with the team that drafted him back in 2010, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Despite his rocky past with the team, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has opened the door. In June, Tomlin said, “success is a slippery red carpet,” adding that both sides have “moved on.”
