Foreign workers on P.E.I. frustrated with new permanent residency rules
I already have a three years of experience in sales and services, so I thought that it’s a good opportunity for me to get a PR here. But now all of a sudden they change the rules. They didn’t give us any notice. It’s always politically possible to grandfather applicants already here and say heads up in 2026, here are the changes we’re going to make. They could do that. They didn’t do that. And in the result, there’s going to be a lot of disappointed people already here. People want to plan ahead. Government doesn’t want to lock in the rules and want the freedom to change the rules at will. And that’s a collision. There is no prediction at all. There is no prediction. Like even if you talk to consultants or. If you watch the news channels, they just announced that. From this time we are changing the rules. For last five years I have been living in Canada and I think my future. I thought my future will be here but. If I’m not getting enough points, I won’t get my PNP or PR, so I have to leave, right? I cannot just claim for refugee or anything as I am not if you’ve ever seen a person with their hopes dash their dreams broken. Their face tells it all, and as an immigration lawyer, that is an unsightly thing you have to see again and again and again. So we’re used to seeing disappointment, a crash of dreams, shattered visions of a future in Canada because of rule changes.
