Joe Biden is asked if Gov. Gavin Newsom should 'stand by' and whether California trip is to 'come up with a Plan B for 2024'

President Joe Biden appeared unprepared to be asked if his upcoming trip to California is to brainstorm a back-up plan amid doubts over his viability in 2024.

A reporter asked ahead of Biden’s Los Angeles campaign visit on Tuesday if California Gov. Gavin Newsom should ‘stand by’ to be tapped by the Democratic Party to appear on the ballot.

‘Are you ready?’ Biden shot back when speaking to members of the press gathered on the White House South Lawn before he departed for the west coast.

‘I’m looking at you. We’re looking at you,’ the president added.

Biden, 81, is participating in a campaign reception in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening amid rising concerns over his fitness for office.

Podcaster Joe Rogan predicted that Newsom will end up on the Democrat’s 2024 ticket.

‘I think they’re gonna get rid of him… I’d say they’re setting up Gavin Newsom for it,’ he said last week.

The Democrats are holding their nominating convention in Chicago, Illinois in August – out of which the party will decide which candidate will officially appear on the 2024 ballot.

Republicans will hold their nominating contest in July in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Many expected remaining competitor Nikki Haley to drop out, leaving former President Donald Trump with a wide-open path to victory.

But Biden said Tuesday it doesn’t matter to him who he faces in the November general.

‘Who would you want to face in November – Nikki Haley or Donald Trump?’ a reporter asked.

‘Oh I don’t care,’ an apathetic Biden replied.

While there have long been questions over Biden’s mental and physical fitness, the DOJ report released this month heightened those concerns tenfold when Special Counsel Robert Hur classified the president as ‘a sympathetic, well meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.’

The report, which did not recommend charging Biden for mishandling of classified documents, also included phrases like ‘diminished faculties’ when describing the president’s mental state.

A poll released just days after the report surfaced resulted in an astounding 86 percent of voters saying they do not think Biden is mentally fit for a second term.

Currently, Biden is running virtually unopposed in the Democratic primary race. And Gov. Newsom has assured repeatedly that he has no intentions of challenging the president in 2024.

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) is still in the Democratic primary run, but has hardly garnered any traction in his longshot bid.

Political commentator Joe Rogan predicted on a recent episode of his show that the Democratic Party is preparing to bring in Newsom to replace Biden on the 2024 presidential ticket.

Rogan’s guest, Chris Williamson, voiced the conundrum: ‘Basically, you can’t prosecute this guy because he’s non compos mentis, but you can let him run for the President of the United States in November.’

‘Don’t you think that that’s a ruse, him running for president?’ Rogan asked in casting doubt over whether Biden will make it to November.

‘I think they’re gonna get rid of him, I think they’re gonna move him out, they’re gonna force him to step down,’ he added.

‘If I had to guess, and it’s just speculation, I’d say they’re setting up Gavin Newsom for it.’
