Footy fans are questioning if Nathan Cleary lost a bet after the NRL star shared a photo of his new tattoo celebrating his side’s premiership success in 2021.

The Panthers ended their 18-year premiership drought when they defeated South Sydney 14-12 last October.

And to celebrate the historic moment, captain Cleary got his left side inked.

But exactly what the tattoo says has footy fans in stitches, as the word ‘Champs’ could be mistaken for ‘Choamps’

“That is up there with the worst tattoo I’ve ever seen. Penriff standards,” one fan said.

“Why does it say Choamps?” another posted.

“No ragrets, I’m sure,” one fan joked.

It’s not the first time Cleary has been roasted on social media.

His laughable Tiktok video saw him fined $30,000 and banned for two games in 2020 after breaching the game’s COVID protocols, and then lying about it.

But the premiership was just the icing on the cake for Cleary in 2021, after leading NSW to State of Origin success and finishing runner-up to Manly’s Tom Trbojevic in the Dally M count for best and fairest.

Cleary was also named Halfback of the Year, leading Penrith to premiership success with his father Ivan as coach.

At just 24, Cleary already has a Clive Churchill Medal – for best on-ground in a grand final, 10 State of Origin wins and 120 NRL games under his belt.
