Ever since Alan Greenberg was knee-high-to-a-grasshopper, he worshipped the Rangers from his Brooklyn home.
Greenberg later gravitated to Washington where he enjoyed a long career in government. Upon retirement he wrote two books. One of them, “Confessions Of A Government Man,” has many humorous behind the scenes tales of funny happenings in high places of D.C.
Meanwhile, Greenberg continued to follow the NHL and currently is covering the Panthers playoff series with Tampa Bay for local Florida publications. But since his heart still belongs to The Blueshirts, I asked him to give me eleven reasons why his Rangers are demolishing the team from D.C. Here goes:
1. Artemi Panarin: “He’s having a career season.”
2. Chris Kreider: “He just keeps going.”
3. Alexis Lafreniere: “He’s having a career season and finally playing to his ability.”
4. Vincent Trocheck: “In Florida they called him ‘The Engine.’ This is a career season for him.”
5. Igor Shesterkin: “This is not his best year in terms of stats, but he still comes up with the big saves.”
6. Jonathan Quick: “Here we have a delightful surprise. I never expected his performances to be what they became. He gave Igor well-needed breaks.”
7. Mika Zibanejad: “Granted, he dropped in production but he’s still a force; especially on the power play.”
8. Adam Fox: “He has to rate as one of the best two-way defensemen in the NHL and averages a point-a-game.”
9. Ryan Lindgren: “This man not only is a warrior, but he’s also the top plus-minus player on the team.”
10. Jacob Trouba: “The captain remains an intimidating factor in any game.”
11. Top Young Defensemen: “Braden Schneider and K’Andre Miller have become experienced and dependable NHL defensemen.”
