tesco, asda and b&m issue urgent 'do not eat' warnings on cupcakes, biscuits and hash browns

B&M, Tesco and Asda have urgently warned customers not to eat certain biscuits, cupcakes and frozen hash browns. The warning applies to people with specific allergies. B&M has also recalled a batch of biscuits.

Recalls happen when food is contaminated or packaging lacks important information, like ingredients that could cause allergic reactions. Here are the full details of the recalls.

B&M

B&M is recalling its Biscuit Freak Shake because it contains a milk protein in the vanilla milkshake powder, which isn’t mentioned on the label. This doesn’t affect the Biscoff items in the product. This means the product could be a health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. The name of the product has been corrected in this allergy alert.

The recall affects all date codes up to and including 22 January. If you’ve bought this product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, don’t eat it. Instead, return the product to your nearest B&M store for a refund, with or without a receipt.

Tesco

Tesco is recalling its Tesco 18 Cupcakes because some packs have been mispacked with Tesco 12 Party Cupcakes that contain soya, which isn’t mentioned on the label. This means the product could be a health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya.

If you’ve purchased the cupcakes with batch code 24026 and a best before date of February 27, 2024, and have a soya allergy, don’t eat them. You can return them to the store for a full refund, even without a receipt.

Asda

Asda is recalling its Frozen Crispy Hash Browns. Some packs may contain Potato Croquettes that include milk and wheat (gluten), which aren’t listed on the label. This could be a health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or gluten, or coeliac disease. The affected packs have a best-before date of June 30, 2025. If you’ve bought this product, you can return it to Asda for a full refund.
