An FIR has been registered against BJP national president JP Nadda, Karnataka state BJP president BY Vijayendra, and BJP social media in-charge Amit Malviya, in Bengaluru following a complaint by Congress over a video posted by BJP Karnataka on their social media.
An animated video featuring Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah depicting the Congress party as supporting a particular religion and repressing members of the SC/ST and OBC communities was posted by BJP Karnataka on social media. The Congress filed a complaint over this video, alleging that it intimidated members of Schedule caste or tribe to not vote for a particular candidate with the intention of creating enmity, hatred, and ill-will against members of the SC/ST community.
According to the complaint, the video attempts to stir up enmity among Muslims and other communities, especially SC and ST. It claims that by depicting Congress as anti-SC/ST and OBC, the BJP’s social media post violates the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
