Amrit Bharat Station Scheme: PM Modi To Lay Foundation Stone Of 550 Stations To Be Built At Cost Of Rs 40,000 Cr

Prime Minister Modi, on February 26, will lay the foundation stone of 550 Amrit Bharat stations in order to boost facilities at railway stations at a cost of Rs 40,000 crore.

These stations will be developed to create rooftop plazas and city centres.

According to officials today, the Prime Minister will also virtually lay the foundation stone for nearly 1,500 road overpasses and underpasses in various states during a ceremony that will take place at more than 2,000 train stations.

The Prime Minister will attend the function via videoconference.

Prizes will also be awarded to approximately 50,000 school students who took part in speech, essay, and poetry writing competitions on the “2047 – Viksit Bharat ki Railway” theme, which were organized by the Indian Railways across 4,000 schools.

Nearly four lakh students competed in various competitions, and approximately 50,000 prizes will be awarded by divisional railway managers and senior railway officers at the event.

For the purpose of developing Indian Railways stations, the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was introduced.

To improve station amenities, master plans must be prepared and phased in. These plans should focus on improving station access, circulating areas, waiting halls, restrooms, lifts and escalators as needed, cleanliness, free WiFi, local product kiosks through ‘One Station, One Product’ schemes, and improved passenger information systems.
