Erik ten Hag could not confirm the nature or severity of the injury that forced Luke Shaw out of Manchester United’s win at Luton Town, but admitted ‘it doesn’t look great.’

The left-back limped out of the 2-1 win at Kenilworth Road just before half-time, replaced by Victor Lindelof.

The substitution did not cost the Red Devils, with the score remaining the same from that first-half injury time change until the end of the game, with Ten Hag’s side missing a string of chances to extend their lead.

There is concern for the England full-back, though, with the Dutchman confirming it was not a knock, but could not say much more about Shaw’s problem.

‘I can’t tell,’ Ten Hag told BBC Radio Five Live on how serious Shaw’s problem is.

‘We have to wait minimum until tomorrow to see what’s going on. Clear, when you come off, it doesn’t look great.’

Shaw was seen limping after the match as the Manchester United team left Kenilworth Road with three points in the bag.

The 28-year-old was making just the 12th Premier League start of the season for Manchester United after a string of fitness concerns.

Left-back has been a problem position for the Red Devils, with Tyrell Malacia not making a single appearance this season due to a serious knee injury.

Manchester United are back in action next weekend as they host Fulham in the Premier League on 24 February.

The win on Sunday keeps them in the hunt for a Champions League finish, sitting sixth, five points behind Tottenham in fourth.
