PETALING JAYA: PAS’s Hezry Yasin has apologised for his now-deleted Facebook posting where he described his actions when it came to prayers for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the sultans made in the mosque.

In the post, Hezry purportedly said he had lowered his hands at Friday prayers in Johor when prayers were being made for the king and the sultans and their families.

“My writing reflects solely my personal views. There was absolutely no intention to show disrespect to the royal institution. (It was) just a view from myself.

“Anyway, once again, I apologise to everyone. And I do not deny that praying for fellow Muslims is important,” he said in a Facebook post today.

In a separate statement, Selangor PAS Youth secretary Aubidullah Fahim said Hezry’s statement did not reflect the party’s stance.

“Hezry is also not an exco member of Selangor PAS Youth. Therefore, his statements do not represent us or any entity within PAS,” he said, adding that it was up to the party’s disciplinary committee to decide whether to take any action against Hezry.

Yesterday, Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh said the party will lodge a police report against Hezry over the Facebook posting.

Akmal alleged that the posting by Hezry had insulted the king as the head of Islam in Malaysia by accusing the king of failing to make Islam a priority.

“I have asked Johor Umno Youth leaders to file a police report over this excessive accusation made by this individual. We will defend our religion, race and royalty regardless of who you are,” he said.
