Fallen tree incident: Swedish woman still receiving medical treatment in HKL

KUALA LUMPUR: The Swedish woman who suffered multiple injuries after a tree fell on the car she was travelling in along Jalan Sultan Ismail is still receiving medical treatment.
Dang Wangi Deputy OCPD Supt Nazron Abd Yusof said the 72-year-old elderly woman was in stable condition.
“She is receiving medical treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur. The 26-year-old motorist who was also injured following the incident has been discharged as of 6am on Wednesday (May 8),” he said when contacted.
He said a total of 18 police reports have been lodged over vehicles that were damaged during the incident.
It was reported that a man died while two others suffered multiple injuries after an afternoon storm caused a massive tree to fall along Jalan Sultan Ismail on Tuesday (May 7).
KL Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) M. Fatta M. Amin was quoted saying they received a distress call at 2.19pm on Tuesday.
Some 27 firemen, four fire engines and four emergency medical rescue service vehicles from the Titiwangsa, Jalan Tun Razak and Sentul Fire Stations were deployed to the scene.
Firemen at the scene found 17 vehicles had been pinned by the fallen tree. The KL Monorail line was also blocked.
Two victims were pinned in their vehicles.
One of the victims, a 47-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other victim, a 26-year-old man, suffered multiple injuries and was handed over to paramedics.
The Swedish woman is believed to be travelling in the same car with the injured driver and was also rushed to the hospital.
