Imelda O’Brien
A fundraiser set up for an Irish beautician badly injured when she fell from an 11th floor balcony in Sydney has reached over €9,000.
Friends of Dubliner Imelda O’Brien said it is a miracle she is alive after the shocking accident.
She had been working at an eyelash extensions shop in the centre of the Australian city near Bondi Junction.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with her medical expenses. Imelda’s friend, Lauren Smyth, who set up the charity page, said she is lucky to be alive.
She said: “Three weeks ago Imelda had a fall off the balcony in her apartment on the 11th floor.
“She is so lucky to be alive, only for a deck on the sixth floor broke her fall she would not be here with us.
“She has already undergone surgery on her leg as it is broken in a few places.
“She has also got broken ribs and a broken tailbone. Also her whole body is just massively bruised and she is in a lot of pain physically and mentally.
“The aim of this GoFundMe is to help fly her mam and her partner over to be able to take her home and get her the help she needs, the cost of flights and somewhere to stay for her family while they get everything sorted for her.”
