Gremlins and Star Wars voice actor Mark Dodson has died aged 64, it has been reported.

Having given voices to many beloved characters over the years, Dodson died from a heart attack while attending Horror Con in Indiana, his daughter confirmed to TMZ.

She told the US outlet Dodson had checked into his hotel, which is where he suffered a ‘massive heart attack’ while sleeping.

In 1983 Dodson got his first big Hollywood break as the voice of Salacious Crumb – a creature with a high-pitched tone in Return of the Jedi.

He also voiced characters for Day of the Dead, the little creatures in Gremlins and can also be heard in many video games.

Dodson’s representative told the publication Dodson added ‘his unique voice and sound to each character and script he touched’.

His daughter, Ciara, said Dodson ‘never ceased making me proud’ and added that his legacy will live on through his grandchildren and her.
