Bhuvneshwar Kumar was stellar in his spell for Uttar Pradesh in the second innings against Bengal. His home team were bundled out for just 60 runs. The veteran right-arm pacer was on point right from the start of the innings. He ran through half of the Bengal batting line up by the end of Day 1 of the match.

Kumar picked up the wickets of Sourav Paul, Sayan Ghosh, Sudip Kumar Gharami, Anustup Majumdar and captain Manoj Tiwary as he registered his 12th five-wicket haul in his first-class career. In fact, all the five Bengal wickets that have fallen so far in the innings, have all been claimed by the veteran pacer. Bengal have finished Day 1 with 95/5

Earlier in the day, the Bengal bowlers wreaked havoc on the Uttar Pradesh batters as the home side were bundled out for 60 runs at Kanpur. Mohammed Kaif picked up four wickets and was the pick of the Bengal players. Ishan Prel picked up 2 wickets while Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal scalped 3 wickets.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar had been a regular feature for India, especially in white-ball cricket. In fact, he is India’s second highest wicket-taker in the history of T20Is with 90 scalps. Overall, the veteran medium pacer has picked up 293 wickets for India across three formats.

He last played for India in a T20I against New Zealand at Napier on November 22, 2022.
