Plenty of Ipswich Town fans have taken to Twitter to react to Toto Nsiala’s message after the defender issued an apology for an exchange that occurred following yesterday’s clash with Charlton Athletic.

The Tractor Boys suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Addicks as goals from Jayden Stockley and Alex Gilbey secured all three points for the hosts at The Valley.

After the game, Nsiala went over to Ipswich’s travelling supporters and ended up having an argument.

Goalkeeper Christian Walton tried to be a peacemaker in this situation but he was subsequently shoved by a pitch invader who was dragged away by stewards.

As a result of this defeat, Ipswich missed out on the opportunity to close the gap between them and the play-off places in League One.

With the dust having now settled from this fixture, Nsiala has issued an apology on the club’s official website for what he believes was a misunderstanding.

Nsiala said:Following last night’s game, I would like to applaud and thank the supporters for travelling in their thousands and paying their hard earned cash, especially at this time of year.

“All of the lads and I fully appreciate the time and effort of the fans who support us up and down the country.

“Frustrations were high and I completely understand why, as that performance was not good enough.

“My intention was to acknowledge the supporters and tell them that we are doing all we can to put things right but unfortunately this did not come across how I intended.

“I apologise for the misunderstanding.

“I know the fans deserve more and I’ll be giving everything to deliver the performances and results that we can all be proud of.”

Upon seeing Nsiala’s message, plenty of Ipswich fans shared their thoughts on the apology on Twitter.

Here are some of the best responses from the club’s supporters…

Fair play credit to him for saying this, passions are high and anger is understandable and it could be misunderstood, we need to be behind the players even when its tough, or this could fall like a deck of cards till we get the new man to move us forward #itfc

— Stephen Parry (@NW1Stephen) December 8, 2021

Fair play from him. Time for team and fans to move on from last night, get a new manager in and then start to improve perfornances. We all want the same thing which is promotion! COYB!

— BruceT69 (@BruceT69) December 8, 2021

I don’t mind tempers flaring and things getting hostile as long as everyone can face each other down afterwards, apologise and move on. Onwards #ITFC – but you lads had better really step up.

— Chris Nicholls (@ct_nicholls) December 8, 2021

Well done Toto. 👏 The only option now after last night is to stick together, wipe the slate clean and go again. It’s gonna get better. 25 games still to go. #itfc

— richard evans (@63blueevans) December 8, 2021

Fair play Toto. He has been a fans scapegoat since he arrived. Even when playing well. However right now, performances need to improve and fast

— RJM (@R_J_M_11) December 8, 2021

been told to say it not having it

— dan (@_dan1878) December 8, 2021

Nothing wrong with a few cross words. Just shows both players and fans care. Water under the bridge and let’s move on.

— Heppy’s Golf Society (@HeppysGolf) December 8, 2021

Not good enough to put in performances that we can be proud of, that’s the problem.

— samsy (@samsyITFC) December 8, 2021

Got to respect toto

— Kade The Blade (@kade_bladeSE25) December 8, 2021

I should think so
