Godawan Century, an Indian single malt whiskey, claimed the top score at the 2024 London Spirits Competition in the single malt whiskey category. With an impressive 96 points, Godawan 100 also became the highest-scoring product from India, LSC said.
The tasting note given by the London Spirit Competition said, “A single malt whiskey with pronounced tropical notes, a lighter palate, and a short finish. It offers a very sweet palate with hints of caramel, charcoal, cinnamon, and anise, leading to a long dry finish.”
Once again, London Spirits Competition shined a light on the world’s finest spirits that are awarded by quality, value and package.
Godawan, the artisanal Single Malt Whiskey, is carefully crafted by Diageo India. Drawing inspiration from its provenance, the whiskey embraces the Rajasthani ethos of revering beauty in scarcity while achieving sustainability.
“The arid climatic conditions observed in Godawan contribute to a heightened ‘Angel’s share’ phenomenon, imparting an extraordinary flavour profile that enthralls the sense.”
This unique single malt whiskey is crafted in specifically chosen casks infused with Indian botanicals.
India’s top beverage company Diageo India’s Godawan brought in Godawan 100, a bespoke collector’s edition single malt batch of 100 bottles, as a homage to the Great Indian Bustard — famously known as Godawan — on its first anniversary.
Once a commonly sighted bird across the nation, Godawan is now on the verge of extinction with only a little over a hundred in number.
Godawan brand aims to make every single addition to the bird flock count. It is committed towards the “environmental conservation and ecological preservation” of the bird.
Receiving gold medal at the 2024 London Spirits Competition, Godawan Single Malt Rich And Rounded Artisan Whisky and Godawan Single Malt Fruit And Spice Artisan Whisky, became a brand of choice for the top bars and bartenders globally.
Organiser of LSC and CEO of Beverage Trade Network, Sid Patel, said that “Judges loved the quality of producers from India in the 2024 edition of London Spirits Competition and among the brands, Godawan was the best-preferred brand where all the products from the brand got gold medals.”
