Masters 2024 purse, payout breakdown: How much prize money does the winner make?
For many in professional golf, winning the Masters is the pinnacle. The right to put on the green jacket not just once, but every April after another, is prestigious in itself. The payout isn’t bad, either.
2023 winner Jon Rahm walked away with a sizable prize for claiming his first Masters victory on a rain-soaked weekend. While he was the only one to leave as a champion, other finishers inside the top five and beyond received a decent payday themselves.
Some stars are already racking up major payouts this year. Scottie Scheffler, for example, won The Players Championship and finished tied for second at the Houston Open in March. He’s one of many standouts looking to add a seven-figure check to that total.
Here’s a look at the 2024 Masters purse and complete payout breakdown.

Masters Tournament purse 2024
The purse for the 2024 Masters Tournament is expected to be $18 million, the same as last year (it has not yet been officially announced).
The 2023 increase to $18 million was change of $3 million from 2022. The purse jumped by $6.5 million from 2021 to 2023, so payouts have been on the rise for golfers who rank among the best at Augusta.
The 2023 Masters purse was the largest of the four major tournaments at the time, but the U.S. Open surpassed the total in June when it revealed a $20 million purse. That means another jump for the Masters purse should be coming in 2024.
The Players Championship remains the biggest fish among PGA Tour events when it comes to payouts. This year’s purse for the event was $25 million, with Scheffler taking home $4.5 million as the event winner.
How much money does the Masters winner get?
This year’s Masters winner is expected to take home $3.24 million, about 18 percent of the total purse.
That’s the same amount Rahm won in 2023, while Scheffler received $2.7 million after winning the 2022 Masters.
The top-three finishers at the 2023 Masters all received more than $1 million, and that’s set to be the case again for this year’s event with the runner-up potentially topping $2 million for the first time.
