Exact date 'major snow' in Scotland could fall as cold snap from Greenland nears
Scotland is being battered by Storm Jocelyn days after Storm Isha – and now we could see heavy snow come our way as early as next week.
Parts of Scotland are expected to be covered in a blanket of snow during the first week of February, according to reports from Exacta Weather. On the 3rd of the month, much of the UK – including parts of Scotland – will see snow which is expected to happen around lunchtime.
The weather forecast comes after satellite data from WXCharts shows there could be about two centimetres per hour of snow for at least six hours in parts of Scotland.
A weather forecast said “some major snow and cold weather” will return from February 2 and 3 coming our way from Greenland, reports the Mirror.
According to experts at Exacta Weather, James Madden told the Daily Star: “Our projections are consistently showing up the potential for another temporary snow event towards the end of the working week and into next weekend that could bring further heavy snow to the north and Scotland, and potentially to parts of northern England, Wales and Northern Ireland and Ireland within this period.

“This is only likely to be a passing snow event for later next week and not the return of the cold and snow proper. However, we do expect some major snow and cold weather to start gaining significant ground to return for in and around February 2 and 3, possibly a little earlier or later depending on a small standard deviation for any timeline changes between now and then.”
“A strong Greenland blocking pattern is also something that we have repeatedly and consistently insisted would happen for February and from as early as September, due to an earlier and now confirmed sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) event.”
