Former New England Patriots tight end Mike Gesicki may have taken a thinly-veiled, indirect shot at the Patriots offense.
Gesicki, who signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency, had rave reviews for quarterback Joe Burrow. The reviews were so glowing they might have burned New England’s offense in the process.
“Never been in the huddle with that kind of talent,” Gesicki said, per Bengals.com’s senior writer Geoff Hobson.
The Penn State product recorded 29 catches for 244 yards and two touchdowns in his one season in New England. He was signed by the Patriots as a free agent in March 2023.
Now, he will get a chance to play with Burrow on a team expected to be a contender in 2024. It’s no secret that the Patriots offense struggled last season.
If anything, Gesicki’s comments just adds salt to the wounds.
