ipl 2024: 5 players who won ipl trophy after leaving royal challengers bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have been part of IPL since 2008 but have never lifted the trophy. The Bengaluru-based franchise has often struggled in the league and only played three finals. In 2009, they fell short against Deccan Chargers in the final. Two years later, RCB lost to MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in the final.

In 2016, Virat Kohli propelled RCB into the final but they once again fell short. This time, David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad broke the hearts of RCB’s fans. RCB haven’t played an IPL final since then. While RCB have never won the IPL title, few of their former players have lifted the title.

In 2019, Quinton de Kock became an IPL champion right after leaving RCB. Here, we have a look at five players who won the IPL trophy after leaving RCB –

Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh had a one-year stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore, in 2014. The star all-rounder joined the Bengaluru-based franchise for a huge amount of Rs 14 crore. RCB released him after IPL 2014. Yuvraj played for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2015.

A year later, he joined Sunrisers Hyderabad and was part of the David Warner-led team that won the IPL trophy. Yuvraj became a two-time IPL Champion three years later as Mumbai Indians (MI) lifted the elusive trophy. MI defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final.

Quinton de Kock

Quinton de Kock joined RCB in the IPL 2018 mega-auction. RCB took a surprising call and traded him to Mumbai Indians before IPL 2019. MI gave him the opening job and de Kock excelled for his new franchise. The wicketkeeper-batsman played a vital role in MI winning the IPL trophy in 2019 and 2020. de Kock is now part of Lucknow Super Giants.

Shane Watson

Shane Watson joined RCB for Rs 9.5 crore in the IPL 2016 auction and had a two-year stint with them. The star all-rounder was also benched during his stint with the Virat Kohli-led side. In 2018, Chennai Super Kings bought Watson for Rs 4 crore. He slammed a century in the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad and propelled CSK to a title win in their comeback season. Watson also shone in the IPL 2019 final, where CSK fell short by just one run against Mumbai Indians.

Parthiv Patel

Parthiv Patel had a couple of stints with RCB. He first joined the franchise in 2014. Parthiv moved to Mumbai Indians from IPL 2015 to 2017 and became a two-time IPL winner with them. RCB re-signed him in the IPL 20218 mega-auction. The left-handed batsman retired after IPL 2020.

Jacques Kallis

Jacques Kallis was part of RCB from IPL 2008 to 2010. RCB fell short against Deccan Chargers in the IPL 2009 final. Kolkata Knight Riders bought Kallis in 2011. Kallis became a two-time IPL Champion with the Gautam Gambhir-led side. He became part of KKR’s backroom staff after his retirement.
