ind vs eng: define test cricket: mumbai indians pay rich tribute to rohit sharma for rajkot ton amid captaincy row
Amid the captaincy row that saw Mumbai Indians’ make a bold call and name Hardik Pandya as the captain for the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the franchise paid rich tribute to Rohit Sharma on social media for his majestic century in the ongoing Rajkot Test match against England.
The Indian captain scored his 11th Test century after winning the toss and choosing to bat first in the third Test match on Thursday (February 15). The Indian captain played a fine knock to put India in command after a horror start, as they lost three wickets in the first session with just 303 runs on the board.
Rohit put up a massive 204-run partnership with local boy Ravindra Jadeja for the fourth wicket. The star all-rounder is nearing a century for himself on his comeback to the team after missing the second Test due to a hamstring injury.

The Mumbai Indians Captaincy Controversy
MI’s decision to remove Rohit from the captaincy was not well received by fans on social media, as it was under the Indian captain’s tenure that the franchise had won all five IPL titles.
Last week, the controversy resurfaced after MI coach Boucher explained the decision and stated they wanted to free Rohit from the burden of captaincy and get him back firing with the bat. In the video clip, Rohit’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, did not mince her words by commenting, ‘So much wrong with this.’
